Mood Board
Liquid Identity
To start my liquid identity website I am doing research on what effects styles and colors I like that I have seen in other websites. I am compiling a mood board of different images I like. Once I compile all the images I want I am going to brainstorm the feel that I am looking for, for my website. I want my site to be very clean and minimalistic in way. I want to use color when I want something to really stand out.
Creating a website that is unique and different is a tough task because my HTML and CSS skills are so limited right now that I can only replicate basic web features. But I plan to use a unique grin and text system combined with colors and images that I can manipulate beforehand. After revising and fine tuning my wireframe and flow chart for my site I will begin to create a dummy of my website using Photoshop or Illustrator. When I am satisfied with the look of all my dummy pages I will begin the task of writing the code for my site.
To address the concept of liquid identity I have the idea of very simple clean fonts and colors in an easily adjustable layout where I can add and adjust things freely without major changes. The site will have a header that can quickly be switched to a new one without affecting the surrounding features. Similar to how Google changes the way their name looks on their site every day or so. I will have to really focus on the CSS to make sure that I can make changes to it that change the overall feel of the site.
The main audience to my site will be those interested in the design work that I do, whether that is potential employers or friends and family who are interest in what I am up to. The site will keep anyone updated on what I am doing in my design career. I would also like if strangers searching the web for interesting imagery and design work could reach my site.
The navigation will be straightforward. The main page will show a sample image of every design piece and by clicking on the design piece it will take you to a page with that design. From those pages you will then have all the sample images to choose from as well as an option to go back to the main page. Also on the main page you can scroll down to look at all the projects in a blog style format incase you don’t want to flip through multiple pages. I have heard from a few professionals that this is their preference because they don’t always have time to search through multiple pages when they are at work.
My site should be graded on the flow of being able to go from one project to the next in a fast and efficient manor. I would also like the graphic elements of the page to be judged as well since that is what I want to do as a profession. I hope that the fact the site will have the option to navigate to any page from any page as well as back to the main page is judged on its flow. The speed at which the site runs is also something that my site should be judged on because it shows that I handled the files well and kept the size of the site down to a quick download. Because many people loose interest quickly if too much time is wasted waiting for an image to download they may end up just leaving.
The main intent of my website is to be viewed on a computer, either a laptop or desktop, but it will be simple enough that it can be viewed using a mobile device such as an Iphone, or Ipad. The site will be geared towards seeing images of the design work that I have done so the bright colors of a phone could be a good thing. The final outcome should be a website that is easily accessible and quick to load. The interface will be easy to understand and very efficient in its flow.
